Designing a scalable editorial platform for luxury travel, lifestyle and fashion content.

Colour me in style is a luxury travel and lifestyle editorial platform. This is a creative outlet that has helped me work on a diverse range of personal projects and hone my skills in logo design, typography, website design, Image and video editing, and other design disciplines.

Project overview

The goal was to design an editorial lifestyle and luxury travel platform focused on creating an intuitive reading experience while optimising content discoverability through user-centred information architecture and SEO best practices. The site has grown into a recognised destination for luxury resort reviews, travel inspiration, fashion, and lifestyle content, with multiple articles ranking highly in Google search.

Objectives

My Role

Design Concept: Coastal Luxury Meets Chic

The visual identity was inspired by the feeling of stepping into a luxury resort: the calm of the ocean, natural textures, soft neutral tones, and effortless style.

I conceptualised and designed the Colour Me In Style brand and editorial website, creating the overall user experience, visual identity, information architecture, and interface design. Working collaboratively with 17th Avenue, my designs were translated into a custom WordPress theme, which later evolved into a commercially available template sold on Etsy in multiple variations.

Alongside the design, I manage the platform's end-to-end content strategy and digital production. This includes user and market research, content planning, copywriting, SEO keyword research, editorial planning, and ongoing optimisation to improve content discoverability, user engagement, and the overall reading experience. Through continuous analysis and iteration, I refine the platform to ensure it remains intuitive, scalable, and aligned with both user needs and business objectives.

Visual Inspiration & Moodboard

I designed the information architecture around user search intent, ensuring travellers could discover relevant content naturally through both search engines and internal navigation.

3. Authentic Storytelling

Unlike traditional booking websites, Colour Me In Style focuses on personal experiences and recommendations.

The design supports:

  • long-form reviews

  • personal photography

  • detailed travel guides

  • honest recommendations

The design was guided by three principles:

1. Editorial Elegance

Inspired by luxury magazines, the website needed to feel immersive and storytelling-focused.

Design choices:

  • generous whitespace

  • strong typography hierarchy

  • large editorial imagery

  • simple layouts

2. Effortless Discovery

A luxury travel website should not feel overwhelming.

The experience was designed to help users:

  • discover destinations

  • find fashion/travel inspiration

  • navigate categories easily
